BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION -A ESSENTIAL CONSERVATION

Introduction:- Biodiversity can we define the variety and variability of all organism that is microorganism plants animals including Man of the biosphere. Biodiversity is one of the vital components of keeping ecological balance. Different measures have been taken up. Such strategy in favor of conservation is Ex-Situ and In-Situ.

Ex-Situ Conservation

Ex situ conservation is the relocation of endangered species from their Natural Habitat to protected areas equipped for their protection and preservation.

Characteristics

1.The ex-situ conservation plays a positive positive role to maintain the population of wild species by raising of a new generation.

2.This type of conservation facilities to shift these species of plants and animals to other regions.

  1. These are to be facilitated by suitable habitat of plants and animals.

Significance

1.Such type of conservation process takes place in Zoos aquarium Botanical Garden accepting not only to conserve but also to maintain their genetic Heritage under a suitable condition.

  1. This process of conservation grows awareness among people about the utility of natural species in environment and importance of their conservation.
  2. This also facilities to provide material for scientific research that provide a better understanding of the biological cycle of diverse species.

4.Ex situ conservation provide some specific characteristics subordinate to the species which are unique do not have in In-Situ conservation.

  1. Ex situ conservation provide some specific techniques for both the plants and animal species for instance seeds and DNA conservation help to grow a larger population of plants and animal species on the artificial condition.

Examples:- botanical gardens, Biological Park, zoo, Laboratories etc

IN-SITU CONSERVATION

In situ conservation refers to the conservation of genetic resources in the natural habitat of plants and animal species. This is facilitated to protect the various natural biodiversity.

Characteristics

1.This is the conservation takes place within natural or manmade ecosystem from where the organic growth is developed.

  1. This is the conservation that is naturally itself

3.Under the system of conservation, there is no need of artificial Habitat to maintaining of wildlife

  1. In this type of conservation, excess human interference should be regulated

Significance

  1. This process of conservation involved with the protection, conservation, and maintenance of the entire natural surroundings. 2.In situ conservation is a relatively cheaper way for the conserving of our biological diversity.

3.The factor which can be detrimental to the existence of species must be eliminated and the species are allowed to grow freely under the natural environment in which it has been growing for a long time.

  1. For the protection of the entire natural species, we protect our environment.
  2. This is the natural ecosystem which facilitates natural organism leaving along with multiplying.

Examples:-National parks, Wildlife sanctuaries etc

   Suggestive measures for conserving biodiversity

1.We should be finding alternatives to land use change and Habitat destruction.

  1. Biodiversity must be integrated into the agriculture fishery and Forestry sector.

3.Strong institution at all level is essential to support biodiversity conservation and the sustainable use of ecosystem.

4.Growing awareness among the people about the benefits of conserving biodiversity that can positively minimise biodiversity.

5.Loss identification of biodiversity hotspot which have a very high concentration of endemic species and which are rapidly losing Habitat and species a primary target for conservation.

  1. Habitat and Ecosystem restoration should be vital for conserving biodiversity.

7.Settling sides various kinds of Habitat in conservation reserves, parks and wildlife refuges.

8.Corporation of the scientist with the government to determine policy that will reduce biodiversity loss and environmental deterioration.

9.Establishment of international agreement which would act to reduce the activities relevant to the decline in biodiversity
